OEM Handbag Quality Control Checklist for Brands
A practical checklist for brands controlling materials, stitching, hardware, branding, packaging, and final inspection.
Quality control for custom handbags should begin before bulk production and continue through every major stage. A final inspection can find defects, but it cannot always prevent delays, material waste, or repeated rework. Use the approved sample as the baseline for shape, dimensions, materials, lining, reinforcement, hardware, stitching, logo, edge finish, function, and packaging. For genuine leather, check color, grain, thickness, softness, and surface character. For PU and microfiber leather, verify color, embossing, backing, surface uniformity, flexibility, and hand feel. Record all approved changes in writing.
Control cutting, stitching, and measurements during production. Confirm the correct pattern version, grain direction, symmetric panels, skiving, lamination, and reinforcement. Inspect stitch lines, thread tension, seam allowance, reinforcement points, and skipped stitches. Measure width, height, depth, handle drop, strap length, pocket position, and logo placement against agreed tolerances.
Test zippers, snaps, magnets, buckles, hooks, rings, adjusters, and detachable straps several times. Check hardware attachment and plating, logo spelling and position, smooth edge paint, clean surfaces, lining, pockets, labels, bindings, and internal zippers. Finished bags should have no loose threads, sharp points, visible glue, scratches, dents, oil marks, or color transfer.
Before shipment, verify stuffing, shape protection, dust bags, polybags, hangtags, barcodes, carton quantities, shipping marks, weights, and sealing. When the buyer specifies AQL or another sampling plan, record measurements, functional tests, defects, photos, packing checks, corrective action, and reinspection.
